General Rules
- Choose one or two typefaces
- A change in type family usually signifies a change in meaning or function
- If you use two typefaces, use one for headings, the other for body copy
- Never put two typefaces from the same family on the same page
- You can use variations of the typefaces, e.g. italics, different sizes
- Use ‘sans serif’ for body copy. It’s easier to read on screen, especially at smaller sizes, as it has less detail
- Think ‘legibility’. Choose a ‘boring’ typeface for body copy, we’ve learned the shapes of the letters
- Choose a typeface to suit the context
- Think about the audience. They might make different associations to yours
- Be bold. Create contrast
